Dissection of a wasp hive

One of my students brought in a wasp hive he found in his yard. After keeping the hive in a deep freezer for two weeks, we opened it up to explore the contents.

As you can see, the wasp paper comb resembles the honeycomb made by bees.

Both the photos above are of a wasp wing. The left image is magnified 40 times while the one on the right is magnified 400 times.
