Waterless weekend causes slight panic
Starting date: 5 Jun 2006
Returning to school Monday morning I discovered I was wrong. To my horror, all of the plants looked wilted - some on the verge of death - and I had visions of our experiment failing. The five days of pictures we took up to this point were not enough to form a conclusion. When the students arrived in the morning, I had them thoroughly water the plants. All we could do was wait to see if the plants would perk up before we took pictures in the afternoon. When the afternoon arrived most of the plants had made a full recovery. ![]()
Monday morning, 12 Jun 2006. See time-lapse video of recovery
All of the plants suffered from lack of water. The picture above was taken in the morning just after watering. These two plants perked up, and you can watch them revive in our time-lapse photography video. By Thursday, 15 Jun 2006, all the plants had recovered from their ordeal except 3 (1 from group A, and 2 from group B). Because of the low fatality rate, and the fact that the rest of the plants seemed to be thriving, my class and I concluded that the weekend drought had no effect on the experiment's overall results. |
